Richie Rich Caribbean Taste brings a slice of authentic Jamaican flavor to the Bronx, serving up hearty, home-style dishes in a straightforward, no-frills setting. Located on Fish Avenue, this spot caters mostly to those craving soulful Caribbean meals that lean into well-known favorites like curried goat, stew chicken, and their signature fried chicken. The atmosphere is casual and somewhat utilitarian, which makes it a practical choice for a relaxed lunch or a low-key dinner rather than a special night out.

The menu heavily features traditional Jamaican staples served with rice and peas or plain white rice, alongside sides that nod to island breakfast classics—think dumplings, yams, and banana. This reinforces the place’s appeal to locals and newcomers alike who want substantial plates that pack in familiar, comforting flavors without fuss. The oxtail and curry goat come highly recommended by repeat visitors, speaking to a focus on meat that’s tender and well-seasoned, though portion sizes can feel generous and sometimes surprising on the bill.

Service here tends to be prompt, reflecting a fast-paced environment where the kitchen lines up plates efficiently, almost like a casual buffet or cafeteria. It's the sort of place where you might pop in during a weekday evening after work or on weekends if you're hunting for robust Caribbean eats in the neighborhood. The lighting and decor skew toward functional rather than atmospheric, so patrons who prioritize the food itself over ambiance will be most satisfied.

On the drink front, Richie Rich offers a variety of tropical beverages that help round out the meal—jerk-inflected soft drinks like Ting grapefruit soda and house-made blends with carrot and mango add a refreshing island twist. These drinks fit well for anyone wanting to balance out the bold spices and hearty textures of the dishes.

In short, Richie Rich Caribbean Taste works best for those who approach dining as a straightforward affair focused on flavorful, traditional food in a simple environment. It's ideal for local residents and travelers who appreciate unpretentious Caribbean cooking and aren’t seeking a polished dining room experience. Visiting earlier in the day or early evening might offer a quieter scene, as reviews suggest the place fills up quickly with loyal regulars eager to return for familiar favorites.

After several stories about their food, I decided to give this place a try and I was not disappointed at all. I had their Oxtail with rice/peas and it was dope. Will definitely go back.

Not worth the money. Lighting was dim in the establishment. I didnt see the prices. After ordering the server gave me this huge piece of macaroni &cheese and shrimp. She charged me 22$ for that and 20 for medium oxtail. With tax I spent 46$ I asked if she had a smaller size shrimp meal she said no with an attitude I paid the money. The food looked good... but, as we all know looks can be deceiving. The food was horrible. Mac n cheese was dry, flavor bland, no seasoning at all! Just cheese and elbow noodles. The Oxtail were the worst Oxtails I've ever had in my life. Consistency too pasty like they added too much tomato paste or something. But the flavor wasn't good either. ( Edible not Enjoyable) the Shimp was the best part it was crispy and I love the spicy sweet sauce. Only thing it was cold and not the room temperature cold either I heated it up at work and it was hitting The rest was garbage. I ate the rice and peas as well. Will not be back... unless I'm craving shrimp

This food is so worth it, nice customer service with food lined up like a buffet of so many choices. I had the curry goat that falls right off the bones, with rice and a side. I would definitely come back.
